Perform the following steps to upgrade within the same major version of Lasernet:

  1. Navigate to Windows services on your computer.

  2. Open the Services app (services.msc) and locate the Lasernet Config 10 service.

  3. Click the Log On tab under Properties.

  4. Take note of the account and password for the Lasernet Config 10 (default is the Local System account) that you are using.

  5. Uninstall the current version of Lasernet, for example, 10.5.

  6. Install a new version of Lasernet, for example, 10.8.

  7. Start services, if not done automatically by Lasernet, to check if your configuration is loaded.

Note

Before starting Lasernet services, validate or add the same account and password that you used for the previous version of the software.

If you use the MSSQL server standalone, your configuration files should be loaded automatically. Ensure that you use the MSSQL Local database instead of a standalone database. After the reinstallation, it is crucial to verify that the configuration is loaded correctly using the Lasernet Monitor to guarantee that the service is running with the same account used in the previous version of Lasernet.

Note
  • For upgrades within the same version, it is essential to have local Administrator privileges and run the installer on the same machine. There is no need to stop services or de-activate licenses. For more information, see Upgrading from Lasernet Version 9 to 10.

Additional Precautions

  • It is recommended that you create a backup of your current configuration. If a problem arises, recovery is possible by importing the entire configuration into the Lasernet Developer.

  • It is always recommended that you uninstall and reinstall Lasernet instead of installing it over an existing version.

  • While upgrading, ensure that you have a backup of your files on a new server. This will ensure that the new version of Lasernet and your server are compatible.
